Blood pressure – ECG

During an exam we may hear a murmur or uneven heartbeat every now and then. Sometimes there are symptoms, but most of the time the animal is here for something else. Early detection and treatment of heart conditions is important to get the best results for your pet.

Evaluating the heart may require an ultrasound or an ECG. An ECG is a ‘heart movie’ as you can see from the image below.

To take an ECG your pet has to lay on his/her side and we will attach the electrodes to their skin and make the ECG. With dogs this is very easy, with cats it depends on their character. The results will follow a few days later after the ECG is evaluated.
