X-rays and ultrasounds
Every Tuesday morning we have a radiologist at our clinic. Planned procedures such as ultrasounds are performed at that time. In an emergency, we take X-rays at the clinic or we will arrange for radiology at a nearby clinic as soon as possible.
X-rays are valuable for checking the thorax, bones and abdomen. At our clinic we are equipped to take digital x-rays ourselves. Although results are immediate, sometimes we would like to hear the opinion from a specialist and we will send the x-rays by e-mail. This review typically lasts several days.
Ultrasound may be needed when an animal is pregnant, suspected of having heart problems, or to check the organs in the abdomen without preforming surgery. There usually is no need for anesthesia during ultrasound procedures. Ultrasound procedures are usually done on Tuesday mornings.
